"I started as a
messenger boy, delivering messages for the butcher on a bike with a big basket
up front, and I’m now seventy five.”
Tommy Thomson has been working in the meat industry since he was a boy. After
an apprenticeship with a local butcher in his home town of Melrose on the
borders, he had a full career in ASDA. He took early retirement but found life
too boring, so opened up his own butcher's stall in the Market twelve years
ago. He is beginning to think about retirement, but shows no signs of slowing
down yet.
