I moved into my new studio in February 2021. It's located in Torry, Aberdeen, a location in which I have spent little time other than visiting parties in the late 80's and early 90's. Its a fascinating area of the city, situated on the south bank of the River Dee and is famed for it's fishing community which is visibly in decline. Modern Industry has replaced much of old Torry, particularly that of North Sea Oil. Traditionally seen as an area of low cost housing, Torry has attracted a large percentage of economic migrants and the area has been highlighted by Aberdeen City Council as a priority area for Aberdeen's community Regeneration Strategy. Major developments shall see the build of a new South harbour at the cost of £350 million pounds, the largest marine infrastructure project in the UK and it shall be fascinating to see how this development shall impact the greater community. Images here represent my wonders whilst moving away from online activity and heading out for a simple walk to educate myself on my new studio surroundings.
